David Darnell

David’s numerous years of service to the Dallas Public Library is exemplary.   He goes above and beyond his duties as the library’s facilities administrator.  He oversees not only the care, repair and security of all of the library’s buildings, but also all of the capital projects.

David is involved with all aspects of new building projects from recommending sites, design, and construction of the facility, through to planning the opening of the library to the public.  Additionally, David has led the renovations at the central library and plays a key role in coordinating special events.

David’s dedication is unsurpassable.  He is the consummate team player who is always available to lend a hand, plan an event, or play the piano!  He is forever gracious.

Ed Palmer

Ed is a whirlwind of volunteer activity for the Dallas Public Library.  He has served as the president and treasurer of the Lakewood library friends, worked on the budget committee of the municipal library board, and currently serves as vice chair for the Skillman southwest library friends.

In addition, Ed spends countless hours each year preparing for and manning the Lakewood Libraryfest fall book sale.  He advocates for the library by attending and speaking at town hall meetings and works diligently for support of the Dallas Public Library.

Ed is a person who has a great appreciation for books and understands the importance of the resources provided by the library.

Stan Aten

Stan has been a tireless advocate, supporter and volunteer for the Dallas Public Library for more than 14 years.  He joined the Oak Lawn library friends as a board member in 1995 and has been an officer on the board since.  Stan was also instrumental in the development of the HamptonIllinois and north oak cliff branch support groups and has served on their board of directors.  Stan willingly offers advice and mentoring to other groups in their efforts to raise funds and support the libraries in their communities.

Stan’s devotion to his branches and the Dallas Public Library is demonstrated through his faithful attendance at city of Dallas budget town hall meetings, his relationship to Dallas council members, and community leaders.
